Tonight: Rally and walking tours at future bridge site

There’s going to be a new bike and pedestrian bridge over I-405 in downtown Portland. Someday.

Will it be a narrow, concrete, elevated bike path that is nothing more than a promise? Or, will it be a 30-foot street just for human-powered vehicles that will be up and running by this winter?

Whatever the future holds, tonight is your chance to learn more about the site and the issues, and most importantly to experience what it’s like to walk and bike in the area right now.

A group of transportation activists and neighborhood residents, along with the Bicycle Transportation Alliance and the Willamette Pedestrian Coalition are leading the event which will kick off with a rally at NW 15th and Flanders beginning at 5:00. Walking tours will depart at 5:15 and 5:30.

I hope this went well. I am home sick with a fever.

The turnout last night was great. Thanks to all who came and supported the cause. Special thanks to Elly who put this together and bought drinks and food for everyone at the Rogue Pub afterwards!
