Let’s talk bikes: Social Hour is tomorrow

[Note: Be forewarned, bike parking is very scarce at Roots Brewing (hopefully that will change soon).]

I hope some of you will join us for drinks and conversation at the BikePortland Social Hour coming to Roots Brewing (SE 7th and Hawthorne) tomorrow (Friday) from 6-7:00ish.

Roots co-owner Craig Nichols has kindly reserved some tables for us (and space for our bags, rain gear, helmets, etc..) and City Council candidate Jim Middaugh is all set to be there.

By the way, Jim has racked up some major endorsements recently. Some say there’s a good chance he’ll be one of our future commissioners and this will be a great opportunity to meet him in a relaxed setting. Then, once you’ve met him, you can call yourself an official member of the all-powerful “bike lobby”.

But politics aside, feel free to come and chat about whatever’s on your mind — whether that’s helmet laws, bike boulevards, the role of Jesus in bike advocacy, etc…

Everyone is welcome to stop by and I look forward to meeting you. Remember, if you want to remain anonymous, feel free to write your screen name on your name tag!

I hope Jim will have lawn signs there because I want to try to carry one home on my bike (after I talk with all the bikeportland crowd)!

Sounds great, Jonathan. Also sounds like the perfect prelude to a Midnight Mystery Ride…

Well, I wanted to be there, but Google Maps says I should have left about 21 hours ago if I was driving, Bike Route Toaster says I should have left 5 weeks ago on my bike…

I really need to move out there, but I don\’t have fundage to do so at the moment.

Roots is good. Bike parking will be an issue. You\’ll have to tie up to the first thing you see within 5 blocks. I expect Lucky Lab will be picking up some of the parking overflow.

Not going to be able to make it tonight, but I have to say – it has been a really, really fun week on BikePortland.org.

Thank you Jonathan.

If anyone left a sweater at Roots last night, please respond here with a description of it.

I have it and will keep it safe until I get it to its proper owner.
