Oregon State Rep Jackie Dingfelder (D-Portland) is making a run for State Senate and, like many smart politicos these days, she’s including Portland’s favorite “micro-constituency” in her campaign plans.
Her supporters have planned a campaign event/bike ride to, “raise awareness about bicycle safety, alternative modes of transportation, climate change, and my plans for a sustainably minded state senate.”
Far from just talk, Dingfelder is anything but a poser when it comes to bikes. Back in 2006, the BTA gave her an Alice B. Toeclips Award for her work in helping push bike legislation through the halls of Salem.
Dingfelder was a main sponsor of the Share the Road License Plate Bill that passed last session and last July she joined a host of regional leaders and policymakers on a bike ride that surveyed bike facilities in Portland and Vancouver.

Meet at Wholesome Blends, bike to Rocky Butte, then to Mt Tabor Park, and then to Bipartisan Cafe for coffee and conversation.
When: Nov 10, 2007, 10:30am to 1:00pm
Where: Wholesome Blends (4615 NE Sandy Blvd) at 10:30am. Bipartisan cafe (7901 SE Stark St) at 12:30.

Nope. That was Ms. Ginny Burdick… who just so happened to have given a lecture today at Lewis and Clark Law School in Portland.
Jackie Dingfelder also introduced and championed Oregon\’s new e-waste recycling legislation. The bill, while not perfect (what bill ever is?), will create a huge environmental impact in Oregon by banning certain electronics in landfills (and hopefully helping cool e-waste reusers and recyclers like Free Geek).

Wow, man.
I still have some mixed feelings about Jackie. She was not supportive of legislation to build velodromes, SB 926. Made her self available but put environmental issues first. Said she would not support the legislation but did not offer any help in how to move the bill forward. Could have been very helpful with budget queen Mary Nolan but declined.
Glad to see she is supportive of cycling safety but she will block any attempt to have the legislature designate any state park money for cycling infrastructure improvements.
