Blue hybrid style Trek bike, about 10 years old. Grip shifters. Some stickers on frame (just bought used, not sure what they were), clip on handlebars for light, Cat Eye rear light under seat. Foam seat, black seat cover had 2 holes in it.

A few weeks ago, I received an amazing gift. A friend of mine, Tiago DeJerk, completed an over life-sized stencil painting on one of the walls in my office.

If you’re a regular reader, you might remember Tiago. I’ve written about his paintings (he was Tiago Denczuk then), I took photos at his wedding on Mt. Tabor over the summer (which culminated with a glorious bike parade), and images of him dressed as “Pinga da Clown”, from his days as a clown at the Alberta Street Clown House, have graced many of my galleries over the years.

Oregonian steps up bike safety coverage

Over the weekend, the Oregonian posted an expanded, multimedia look at the topic of bike safety in Portland.

The page (which is unfortunately titled “Bike versus car” after some back and forth emails with their online editor Mark Friesen, the Oregonian has changed the headline to “Bikes and cars”–thanks Mark) summarizes their recent coverage and offers video, graphs, and a cool Google Map with details on 700 bike crashes that occurred between 2003-2006.

Update, new details, on Marine Drive collision

Bob Verrinder remains in serious condition.

On Thursday, October 18, Bob Verrinder was seriously injured when he and a motor vehicle collided on NE Marine Drive.

Unfortunately, because a separate tragic event occurred the following Monday, I have been unable to follow-up on this story.

First, I want to share an update on Bob’s condition. Then, I want to share details of the crash that were for some reason left out of the Police Bureau’s media statement.
