An Excellent tie was had by all, as evidenced by the big smile on everyones face in every picture! That is the goal of the Tour, having fun on your bike and feeling good about it.
PUMP would like to thank New Belgium for helping us raise over $1500 for our mountain bike club, funds that will be put to use spreading the good word about riding your mountainbike, off the road, away from cars, in the city of Portland. Big things are on the horizon for PUMP, stop by our monthly meeting at the bike friendly Lucky Lab, 915 SE Hawthorne, as always the last Tuesday of the month, 7:30 pm sharp, to find out and join in.
We are 100% volunteer, and can use all the help we can get. A BIG thanks to all the PUMP members who helped out! You know who you are......

I checked this event out for the first time and found it to be pretty lame. $4 beers? yeah the profits go to bike stuff, but four bucks is four bucks. if I\'m gonna stand around while some annoying MC shouts sarcastically about NASCAR over the PA (preaching to the choir, you think?) or yet-another-bluegrass-band twiddles away on their heinous banjos, I need cheap schwill. To dull the pain!
anyhow, the whole thing stunk of a brewery\'s promotional event-- which it was indeed-- and therefore quite pale in comparison to homegrown bike events like MCBF.
I like New Belgium\'s beer, and I like that they\'re promoting / supporting bikes, but as far as entertainment goes, this thing was a stinker.
RecommendedNow Max, you\'re looking a gift horse in the mouth. A free bike parade throughout downtown Portland escorted by our boys in blue was enjoyable enough for me, having spent 3 hours the previous weekend pedalling very slowly or walking in the bridgepedal/crawl. The entertainment was free, and I sure did enjoy looking at the creative, crazy bikes on diplay (not to mention the people!). No one MADE you buy a beer!
RecommendedThis is New Belgiams second great event. I attended MTB week in Oakridge a few weeks ago. Had a great time at Tour de FAt, the parade was fun, the music and acts were great.
The beer line was a bit long, but while folks waited for beer, I made it to the pizza and pop line and did NOT have to wait for food. After I ate, the beer line was mellow, so I followed great food with great beer.
New Belgiam rocks, they know how to throw a party, something that is required of a beer company.
