Earlier today, the BTA announced that Executive Director Evan Manvel had left the organization.

Now the BTA Board of Directors has named Scott Bricker as their interim leader.

According to the BTA Blog,

“Bricker has committed to leading the organization through the end of the year, when he and the board will evaluate the organization’s standing.”

Bricker is a natural choice for this role and I wouldn’t be surprised if he officially assumed the Executive Director position.

He has been with the BTA since 1998 (the longest tenure of any current staffer) when he was in charge of their education programs and he is credited with the creation of their Safe Routes to School programs.

In recent years Bricker has led the BTA’s legislative efforts in his role as Policy Director.

Stay tuned for more coverage of leadership changes at the BTA early next week (it’s the weekend and I’m trying not to work!).

Congratulations, Scott! I know you'll do a great job of stepping into the big shoes, er pedals that Evan's left behind. Best of luck to you in your new position.

I've known Scott for years, and he's a impassioned advocate for cycling, and he combines big visions with practical politics. I think he's a good fit, and I wish the organization the best through this transition.

I hope Scott and the board will decide to pursue an Idaho Style law in Oregon during the next legislative session...
