Velodrome Bill hearing Thursday in Salem

Posted by on March 27th, 2007 at 8:20 am

BTA lobbyist Scott Bricker reports that the Velodrome Bill in front of state lawmakers will get a public hearing this Thursday (3/29).

The Bill (S.B. 926), which would allocate State Parks Lottery funds to build two velodromes in Oregon, will be heard in front of the Senate Committee on Environment and Natural Resources. Republican Senator Jason Atkinson, who is behind the bill, is Vice-Chair of that committee.

Atkinson has already gained solid momentum for the velodromes and so far, nine of his Salem colleagues — from both sides of the aisle — have signed on to support it.

Now we must demonstrate community support and we need you to testify. Please consider joining us in Salem. Here are the details:

NOTE: At BikePortland, we love your comments. We love them so much that we devote many hours every week to read them and make sure they are productive, inclusive, and supportive (heck, sometimes we even fix your typos!). That doesn't mean you can't disagree with someone. It means you must do it with tact and respect. This is our business and we do not tolerate mean commenters who add nothing of value to the discussion.

Unfortunately, we are not robots and we don't always catch everything. You can help by notifying us if you see inappropriate comments. Thanks! — Jonathan and Michael
