This year’s Father’s Day Trailer Kids Park Tour reached “critical mass” at 23 bikers (12 parents and 11 kids). We began in Whilshire Park and rode to Woodlawn, and Kenton Parks. Woodlawn Park being the favorite: with water fountains and great play structures including a giant spring rocker large enough to accommodate adults. Kenton Park was negatively impacted by noise from Portland International Raceway (PIR) but offered a nice play structure and steep hill for rolling and running down.
Six hardy bikers continued on to the sculpture gardens east of the North Portland Sewage Treatment Plant and then to Smith & Bybee Lakes nature area. Because races were being held at PIR, the usual nature experiences of the Columbia Slough Trail (CST) were eclipsed, however, this day offered a glimpse into the noise, smells, trucks and haircuts of the local racing community. Soon after our passage from the CST, the racing terminated and bird song was once again noted.
Total mileage to Kenton Park being 5.5 miles and to Smith & Bybee 10.5. Assuming round trip mileage, total miles pedaled by the group were 313 miles! A very fine Father’s Day for all participants.

Was sorry to have missed this Patrick but my girls were out of town. Great to see that you had twice the number of people this year!
