Based on this experience, it was Sylvester who encouraged a budding racer named Erik Tonkin to venture to the hallowed grounds of European cyclocross. Tonkin wisely took the advice and was named to the World’s team himself last year. I can't wait for the column(s) as I really enjoyed/ lived vicariously through Erik's emails from "cross camp" (as posted by Jon Meyers on the OBRA listserv) btw: 3 of the 5 men selected for the Worlds team are from Oregon (and all ride for Kona). Erik, Barry Wicks & Ryan Trebon. This is such great news. Congrats Erik & Rhonda.
