BTA to host winter commuting workshop

Posted by Jonathan Maus (Editor) on October 13th, 2005 at 4:11 pm

Riding in the rain and cold shouldn’t be just for the hardcore. Once you get the hang of it it’s really no big deal. But many folks still hang up the bike at this time of year. The BTA is hoping that a skills workshop will keep you pedaling through anything. Here are the details:

Thursday, October 20th
6:00 PM - 7:15 PM
717 SW 12th Ave (BTA Office)
Portland Building
1120 SW 5th Ave

Topics covered will include:

  • Outfitting your bike for wet weather
  • Clothing to keep warm and dry
  • Bike handling on winter streets
  • Lighting/visibility and awareness tips for winter riding
  • Winter bicycle maintenance
  • Troubleshooting - fixing flats and other quick solutions
  • “Homegrown” substitutes for expensive gear

Please R.S.V.P. to brita@bta4bikes.org (503.226.0676 x13) for confirmation and address information.

My understanding is the workshop is being held downtown at the City of Portland building, 1120 SW 5th on the second floor in room C.

    Bond,

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. You're right, I've seen it listed at both locations. As soon as I confirm the right one, I'll edit the post.

    Thanks.

The BTA website says it's at the BTA office.

    Hey guys,
Just talked to Brita at the BTA. They had so many people RSVP that they had to move it to the Portland Building!

    Thanks again Bond.
